The story of Amy Purdy

At age 19, Amy Purdy was rushed to the hospital in septic shock. En route, she experienced respiratory & organ failure. At the hospital she was given less than a 2% chance of survival, put on life support and placed into a coma. After multiple blood transfusions, & the removal of her ruptured spleen & kidney, Dr.'s diagnosed Amy with Meningococcal Meningitis, a bacterial infection. Due to the lack of circulation she had suffered, Dr.'s had to amputate both of her legs below the knee.

Snowboarding and Amy was love at first sight. Since first strapping on her 1st snowboard Amy has never missed season, including the year she lost her legs. Amy Purdy is the ONLY
double amputee
competing @ the World
Class Level.
