*WARNING...WARNING....ASTRONOMY LOVER!
NERD ALERT...NERD ALERT!* Lol
The Moon
Our closest companion, the Moon, is still 238,850 miles away. Our Moon is the ONLY body in space which humans have landed. The Moon has less gravity than our home Earth. You would weigh 1/6 of your body weight on Earth.
Silvery Moon:
The Moon appears dark gray because its surface reflects only 12% of the sunlight that hits it.
Birth of the Moon: Astronomers believe that the Moon was born about 4.6 billion years ago. Our youthful planet was hit by another large body, melting part of the Earth's outer layer. The debris from collision scattered into orbit where it collected together to form our Moon.

Visits to the Moon!
During the Apollo program, 12 American astronauts landed on the Moon, between 1969 and 1972. No one has been back since. NASA plans to send astronauts back to the satellite before the year 2020.
We learn more and more every day. Every step forward is unlocking secrets to our vast, fascinating Universe.
I'm anxious to see how far we get in my lifetime.
