All About the Sun!

The warmth on your skin that you feel comes from a star, our friend, the Sun. It takes only 8 minutes for it's intense energy to get to us on Earth.

The Sun is made up of gas, but mainly hydrogen. We know the Sun is hot and all but how hot is it really? The Sun's gravity creates 27 million°F. 27,000,000 scorching degrees!! To get a mental picture: The process in which the Sun generates light & heat is like millions of hydrogen bombs all going off together at the same time.

Hear is a fun fact!
The Sun appears yellow when seen from Earth, but it is actually white. We see the Sun after being filtered through Earth's atmosphere.

Sun Solar Statistics:
DISTANCE FROM EARTH: 93,000,000 miles
DIAMETER: 865,000 miles
AGE: 4.5 billion years
CORE TEMP: 27,000,000°F
DENSITY: 1.4 times the density of water

Scientists predicts our Sun will continue to grow hotter as it reaches the end of its life about 5 billion years from now.

Stay warm my friends!!
